Huế 2025 National Tourism Year and Huế Festival Celebrate Culture and Heritage
Huế is gearing up to host both the National Tourism Year and the Huế Festival in 2025, bringing with it a lineup of 62 significant events and programs for visitors to enjoy.
As the 2024 Huế Festival wrapped up with a spectacular closing ceremony that drew 100,000 visitors, Huế is now looking ahead to its landmark National Tourism Year 2025. This event will mark the 50th anniversary of Thừa Thiên-Huế Province's liberation and its elevation to municipal status, making it a momentous year for the region.

According to Hồ An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Huế has long been a central pillar of Việt Nam’s tourism industry, particularly known for its rich cultural and heritage tourism offerings. "Selecting Thừa Thiên-Huế as the host of the National Tourism Year 2025 is both logical and fitting," Phong said, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Huế's unique appeal to a global audience.
Phong further highlighted the opportunity for Huế to expand its reputation as a festival destination. By curating diverse festival tours, the city aims to enrich visitor experiences, meet varied tourist needs, and ultimately draw even more travelers to its historic landmarks.
The National Tourism Year 2025 will officially launch at the end of March, featuring a stunning fireworks display to commemorate Thừa Thiên-Huế's 50th Liberation Day. Nguyễn Thanh Bình, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, shared that Huế’s ambition for the event is to uplift the tourism profile of the entire central region. "Collaboration between localities in the central region is essential," Bình noted, adding that support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will further connect tourism efforts across the North, Central, and South regions.
Located in central Việt Nam, Huế is celebrated as the former imperial capital of the Nguyễn Dynasty, steeped in cultural and historical richness. The city is home to the renowned Imperial City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with eight other UNESCO-recognized heritage sites carefully preserved within the province.
In 2024, Huế Festival Week drew around 100,000 visitors, showcasing the city's popularity and cultural magnetism. With even grander plans set for 2025, Huế stands poised to further solidify its reputation as a must-visit destination in Việt Nam.
